Gynecologic Surgery

Find options for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery

Deciding which doctor to trust with your gynecological surgery is one of the most important healthcare decisions you’ll make. Heights Obstetric and Gynecology doctors have vast experience performing surgery using minimally invasive techniques. Our San Antonio OBGYNs provide the highest quality of surgical treatment and care to local women.

If your condition requires surgery, your doctor will present your options and help you make the best decision for you. We understand surgery can be intimidating, so we encourage you to ask your OBGYN questions.

Investigate lifelong contraception with permanent birth control

Our San Antonio OBGYNs know that different contraceptive options make sense for women at different times of their lives. For women who are ready for permanent birth control, we offer a range of options. This includes tubal ligation. Your OBGYN will discuss the details of each procedure to help you make a decision.

Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery

Our OBGYN surgeons use minimally invasive surgical techniques. These techniques can reduce your recovery time. We individualize treatment recommendations and take the most medically conservative approach. Here are some of the procedures our surgeons specialize in.

Hysteroscopy: Your surgeon will insert a thin, lighted camera through the vagina and cervix into the uterus. Hysteroscopy allows your OBGYN to determine whether there are any conditions that might require treatment. In some cases, your surgeon will diagnose and treat the problem in the same procedure.

Laparoscopy: The laparoscope is a tool that uses a telescopic device with a lighted camera that allows the physician to see the inside of the abdomen. We perform laparoscopy to identify possible causes of infertility, pelvic or abdominal pain; for treatment of endometriosis, ovarian cysts or adhesions; or for permanent sterilization.

Myomectomy: Uterine fibroids are growths associated with the uterine lining or muscle that can cause abnormal bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pain or infertility. The surgical removal of fibroids from the uterus is a myomectomy. It leaves the uterus in place to preserve childbearing potential.

Hysterectomy: A hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus due to fibroids, pelvic floor prolapse, abnormal bleeding or certain cancers. There are several different types of hysterectomies. Your OBGYN will discuss the most appropriate gynecological surgery options for you.
